What to Expect at OB Visits
All Trimesters
Upon arrival, you will be provided a cup to leave a urine specimen
Check for fetal heart tones with a doppler (after 12 weeks gestation)
Check weight and blood pressure --Recommend Flu/Covid vaccine
First Trimester (Through 14 weeks)
A lab slip will be provided to obtain routine prenatal lab work
Discussion about genetic testing (optional)
Possible ultrasound (for any problems, dating issues, etc)
Appointments will be every 4 weeks
Second Trimester (15-28 weeks)
Prescription for a fetal anatomy ultrasound
A lab slip will be provided to obtain gestational diabetes screening (around 28 weeks)
Will measure fundal height (size of the uterus)
Appointments will be every 4 weeks
Third Trimester (28-40 weeks)
Offer TdAP vaccine (between 28-36 weeks) This helps to prevent "whooping cough" with baby before they are able to receive their own vaccinations.
Appointments every 2-3 weeks from 28-35 weeks, then weekly visits from 36+ weeks
Group Beta Strep (GBS) culture at 36 weeks (unless you tested positive for this earlier in the pregnancy)
Cervical exams starting 36-38 weeks (unless you are a scheduled cesarean section)
Measure fundal height (size of the uterus)
Discuss preparedness for baby, labor and delivery, etc, hospital registration packet
